199 this is an expensive beast. But is it worth it? My view is yes for the simple reason that an Ultrabook of this ilk is going to get used and the last thing you want if you use an Ultrabook every working day is one that cannot last the test of tim
Beautiful screen that is crazy sharp
Insanely light
Sturdy and very well built
Fast enough for most
Comes with a premium support service adding two years and dedicated support line
The editors didn't like
Battery life is merely OK. Needs a bit more "bang for your buck"
Loud fan
No Ethernet dongle
Higher-res screens are more common now
And available for less. The generic brushed-metal look isn't particularly distinctive given the price
The basic look hasn't changed in the past couple of years
While the competition is catching up. The touchpad isn't as responsive as it should be
Price to performance ratio is considerably high
Mediocre webcam quality
The Final Verdict
Toshiba has been successful in correcting almost all of the major shortcomings of the older Kirabook in its latest offering. The extended battery life
Slimmer
May have to adjust zoom or screen resolution for apps
On the downside Toshiba needs to work on the cooling fan and the problems associated with the sheer resolution of the display screen
Neither of these two small issues take away from the fact that this is the best Ultrabook we have ever seen.
Trackpad driver needs work
Not everything is optimised for the high-resolution screen
very good) When Toshiba announced the KIRAbook, we were blown away by its specs, especially its high-resolution display. After playing around with it for our reviewing purposes, we’re still impressed with Toshiba’s offering, although the KIRAbook is...
Super-sharp and bright display, Nice keyboard and speakers, Fast performance, long battery life
Expensive, Text and icons can be tiny, Noisy fan
Toshiba launches a new luxury brand with an ultra-high-resolution ultrabook (think MacBook Air Retina). The view is alternately spiffy and squinty, but the rest of the design dazzles. ...
Without having personally tested any of the ASUS Zenbooks, which at least around the "office" (disclaimer: there is not an office) are generally regarded as among the best ultrabooks on the market, I can't really speak too greatly on how the Toshiba KIRAb...

Higher-res screens are more common now, and available for less. The generic brushed-metal look isn't particularly distinctive given the price
Toshiba's ambitious Kirabook has a screen that rivals Apple's MacBook Pro with Retina Display, and a price to match. It's a solid, useful laptop, but for these prices, the design should really be more exciting.
Solid chassis, Glass touchscreen with thin bezels, Beautiful 2560 x 1440 display, Excellent performance
Display suffers from scaling issues, Extremely hot and loud at load, Not a good value
The Toshiba Kirabook is in many ways a great Ultrabook. The 2560 x 1440 would be impressive on its own, yet it's served up in a package no larger than a MacBook Air that still offers excellent performance and reasonable battery life. Toshiba's engineers...
Good keyboard and trackpad, Good overall performance and battery life, Nice metal design
Poor screen quality, A lot of uneeded included software, Touchscreen doesn't add enough for the price
Toshiba Kirabook – Performance The Toshiba Kira is a slim and light ultrabook so performance is not its main focus but of course it still needs to deliver the basics and this it does with aplomb. Its Intel processor and nippy SSD combine to make everyday...

The basic look hasn't changed in the past couple of years, while the competition is catching up. The touchpad isn't as responsive as it should be
The Toshiba Kirabook is still a worthwhile high-end Windows alternative to a Retina MacBook Pro, but it could use a little of that Apple secret sauce for its touchpad...

The design of Toshiba's high-end Kirabook hasn't changed since last year, but it has aged gracefully. The components get an update and the battery life gets a big boost, making this an all-around excellent, but expensive, ultrabook....
