Incredible screen
Ivy Bridge processors
Fast solid state storage
Gestures trackpad
Great battery life
The new 13-inch Apple MacBook Pro with Retina Display adds a screen that's nearly as high-res as the 15-inch version
Making for incredibly crisp text and images. The slimmer body feels much more modern
And the excellent keyboard and trackpad remain
Great screen. Apple's usual excellent keyboard and trackpad. Dual thunderbolt and USB 3.0 gives decent port flexibility. Good battery life. HDMI
The editors didn't like
Very expensive
No FireWire 800 or Ethernet ports
No optical drive
Very difficult to repair or upgrade
15inch model might be better value
Considering that this looks and feels a lot like the 13-inch MacBook Air
You may be in for a bit of sticker shock
Especially as the base model only includes 128GB of SSD storage
The base near the monitor gets quite hot during heavy tasks. Still waiting for everything to be high DPI compatible. Weight will make some consider the Air instead
This isn't a MacBook for the average buyer - the Retina display is overkill for most people, and the price premium is substantial. If, however, you're a creative professional who is constantly on the move, then the appeal is obvious. With a glorious high-...

There's absolutely no doubt that the MacBook Pro Retina 13 has a beautiful display. Some will be phased by the weight and go for the MacBook Air, others will deem it to be worth it. We just wish it came with discrete graphics....
Until the next crop of ultrabooks turn up with better-than-retina displays, it's safe to say this is the laptop we'd choose if money were no object. The 15in MacBook Pro does offer more processing power, but the 13in's size and relatively light weight mea...

Following the success of the 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display, it was inevitable that Apple would bring out a 13-inch version. And if you're familiar with the mid-2012 15-inch notebook, the new late 2012 13-inch model is exactly what you'd expect. ...
This is probably the best 13-inch laptop you can buy right now, for all the good it'll do you. Sure, this computer makes some sense for a photographer or designer, but the 15-inch retina version offers almost all of the same benefits, plus a lot more if y...
Abstract: When Apple released the , it was only a matter of time before the Retina display made its way to other Apple laptops. That time is now, and with the , a compelling argument can be made that Apple’s newest laptop is an ideal combination of performance, ...

While the Retina MacBook Pro is easily the most desirable 13-inch Mac laptop to date, the high price and lack of discrete graphics make it a tough call versus either the more powerful 15-inch Retina Pro or the more affordable 13-inch Air....
The traditional MacBook Pros hold fast to their unibody form factor and design, upgradability and price and target the mid-market of non-creative professionals that seeks to balance features with affordability. The new MacBook Pros are not flashy like ...
The 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro is just a beautiful device in general from how it is designed and the quality of images the high-resolution display produces. Everything that is physically good from Apple's line of notebooks will be found on this one but lo...
Abstract: In the spring of 2012, Apple made a breakthrough on the laptop market and released its first MacBook Pro with a Retina display, boasting a really high resolution of 2880x1800 pixels. Moreover, the much thinner novelty offered the same performance as it...
