  • Extremely solid build quality
  • Clear and sharp electronic viewfinder
  • Intuitive three-dial control system. Excellent images even at high-ISO levels. Best-in-class shooting performance. Comfortable to shoot with and well balanced

The editors didn't like

  • After each shot the viewfinder/LCD blacks out and the word “Processing” is displayed. Sony inform us that this shouldn't happen
  • But as it occurred with both the a77 and the aNEX7 we are waiting for an explanation or a solution
  • Dial-and-wheel interface can be confusing
  • Menu system is unnecessarily complicated
  • Auto ISO artificially limited
  • Hampering low-light shots
  • Body and lens scratch easily. Not exactly compact with the kit lens attached. Costs a pretty penny

  • Abstract:  They must be putting something in the water at Sony's camera design bureau because right now the company is really on a roll. Suddenly the D-SLR range looks hugely competitive – courtesy of the SLT-A35, A65 and the brilliant A77 – and over in the compact ...

  • Dial-and-wheel interface can be confusing, Menu system is unnecessarily complicated, Auto ISO artificially limited, hampering low-light shots
  • The next step in Sony's evolution of its NEX interchangeable-lens-but-no-bulky-internal-mirror camera system is technically brilliant: an amazingly detailed and clean image sensor shoehorned into a reasonably compact camera body that's incredibly well bui...

  • This is the camera that could make the DSLR unnecessary for most people. It is smaller, lighter and less ostentatious. It has image-making abilities better than most DSLRs. The range of lenses and accessories is constantly expanding. While the EVF is stil...

  • Abstract:  With photographers at all levels demonstrating increasing interest in mirrorless cameras, as a premium product the NEX 7 will clearly appeal to serious enthusiasts. Unfortunately, locally it is being offered at premium prices that are between $250 and $65...

  • Abstract:  The Pentax K-3 is the company's latest range-topping DSLR, which means another robustly constructed, well-proportioned camera built with photographers in mind. The 24MP K-3 does without an anti-aliasing filter, instead offering the unique option of shifti...

  • While the small electronic viewfinder is better than most we've tried, it will still make you miss an optical viewfinder, inferior kit lens, you still need to go into menus to change modes
  • While I really enjoyed my time shooting with the Sony NEX-7—it was definitely worth the wait—it's not the camera that would replace my favorite DSLR for most assignments. It does, however, present one of the best arguments—along with the 16.3-megapixel Fu...

  • One of the most customizable models on the market. Sparkling 1080p video at 60 fps
  • Software menu is a bit of a dog's breakfast. Flimsy popup flash. At least 0 too expensive
