The editors liked
The image quality is comparable with that of its sibling
The a77
Which means it is dazzling. Images are sharp
Correctly exposed
With accurate colour and incredible resolved detail. The camera is beautifully balanced in the hand even though at first gl
Excellent image quality
Extremely solid build quality
Clear and sharp electronic viewfinder
Intuitive three-dial control system. Excellent images even at high-ISO levels. Best-in-class shooting performance. Comfortable to shoot with and well balanced
The editors didn't like
After each shot the viewfinder/LCD blacks out and the word “Processing” is displayed. Sony inform us that this shouldn't happen
But as it occurred with both the a77 and the aNEX7 we are waiting for an explanation or a solution
Dial-and-wheel interface can be confusing
Menu system is unnecessarily complicated
Auto ISO artificially limited
Hampering low-light shots
Body and lens scratch easily. Not exactly compact with the kit lens attached. Costs a pretty penny

In terms of video, Sony is quickly positioning itself as a leader in the interchangeable lens camera market. The NEX-7, like the NEX-5N before it, handled our performance tests with ease, offering some of the sharpest video we've seen from an inte...
Comfortable, sturdy, and compact exterior, Excellent control setup, High image quality,
Annoying file structure for video and stills, Slightly confusing menu interface, Small high quality lens library
We can’t help but to think that Sony has itself a really compelling camera system with its NEX family. On the consumer side, the NEX-5n and NEX-C3 bring excellent image quality with beginner friendly point-and-shoot controls to less advanced photograph...
Big, bright ultra high resolution EVF, 10fps burst mode, 1080p60/50 movie mode, PASM modes for movie shooting, Continuous AF in movie mode.
Bracketing limited to +/-0.3 or +/-0.7EV, Poor menu layout and organisation, Movie button easy to accidentally press, AF struggles in poor light, Limited selection of native E-mount lenses.
Ever since the NEX range was launched, photography enthusiasts have been waiting for a model that would exploit its potential to the full and the NEX-7 finally delivers on that promise. What makes the difference is the outstandingly good electronic vi...
With so many features on offer and so much expectation and hype surrounding the new NEX hero, Sony really had its work cut out. Luckily, the raised bar was not only reach but cleared easily. The quality of the 24mp image capture straight up is an abso...
