The editors liked

  • Like
  • Image quality is on a par with the competition from Canon and Nikon. Autofocus in Liveview is astonishingly fast and accurate.
  • Good design and build quality
  • Good autosystem
  • Good image quality

The editors didn't like

  • Dislike
  • Auto white balance is disappointing. The camera doesn't get anywhere near adjusting for tungsten light. It is best to shoot RAW for ease of colour correction in post camera processing
  • Some improvements needed in design
  • K7 is £300 cheaper

  • Abstract:  Like the K-7, the K-5 uses SD and SDHC memory cards but also accepts the latest SDXC media. It is compatible with all K-7 accessories, including the D-BG4 battery grip, external flash guns (including a ring flash), viewfinder magnifiers, four interchangea...

  • Weather sealed. Fast continuous shooting. In-body stabilization. Pentaprism viewfinder. Quiet.
  • Pricey. So-so kit lens. No autofocus during video recording. Subpar high ISO performance
  • The weather-sealed Pentax K-5 is a fast-shooting digital SLR with in-body stabilization and fast burst shooting, but it's hampered by an underperforming kit lens, poor high ISO performance, and some other issues....

  • Abstract:  Pentax has a long history of innovation as well as a rabid fan base that loves the company’s tradition of optical excellence and originality. In fact, this fan base is the reason I’m writing this review. If you’re not already a Pentaxian you probably...
