The editors liked

  • Used with the Canon EF 24-105mm L lens image quality is superb. The resolution is such that small areas of the image can be cropped and enlarged without loss of detail. Low noise performance is exemplary at the highest ISO settings. And the movie mode ...

The editors didn't like

  • While the high definition movies are excellent we do have reservations about the utility of this feature. To work properly the camera needs to be tripod mounted and the focus needs to be constantly tweaked manually. The user manual says “auto focusi...
  • No dedicated dial for aperture
  • LCD screen doesn’t flip out
  • Awkward focusing in Live View mode
  • No manual overrides in movie mode
  • Automatic white balance isn't great in artificial light

  • Full frame sensor. Superb high ISO performance. Shoots 1080p video, too
  • Hella expensive. Menus a tad tricky at first
  • Pricey, but will do the business for any prosumer photographer looking to shoot landscapes, portraits in low light and even hi-def video ...

  • Abstract:  This camera has now been superseded by the Canon EOS 5D Mk III . Sometimes this job makes me cry. I've been hanging on to the EOS 5D Mk II, and the awesome 85mm f/1.2 lens that arrived along with it, for as long as humanly possible, but on Monday it has t...

  • Like its predecessor, Canons EOS 5D Mark II is a great camera that offers exceptional image quality and a great interface. Wed like to see a few additional features (better auto bracketing and an intervalometer, for starters) but these are quibbles....

  • Theres plenty to admire about the 5D Mark II, from the image quality to the impressive feature set, and only the occasional handling niggle really prevent it from being a top-notch DSLR...

  • Abstract:  The full-frame Canon EOS 5D Mk II is the replacement for the 12.8-megapixel EOS 5D and packs a new 21-million pixel CMOS sensor, three-inch photo-quality LCD, Live View with stills and full HD video, and improved weatherproofing. The full-frame Canon ...

  • Excellent performance and photo quality; good video-capture capabilities and quality
  • No built-in wireless controller; large spot meter; no built-in flash; more direct controls would be nice; autofocus system could use an update
  • The Canon EOS 5D Mark II is a great follow-up to the original 5D and a top-flight full-frame camera that delivers the fluid shooting experience and fine photos you'd expect from a professional model ...

  • Abstract:  The 35mm full-frame EOS 5D Mk II is the replacement for the original Eos 5D, arguably the single most influential DSLR yet made. Not only was the 12.8-megapixel Eos 5D a ground-breaking model, offering the advantages of a large, 35mm Cmos sensor in a r...

  • Abstract:  The Canon EOS 5D MkII packs in an impressive spec with its 21.1Mp chip and the option to achieve prints just a bit smaller than A2 without interpolation. The ISO coverage on the Canon EOS 5D MKII is impressive, with a standard range of ISO 100-6400, an...

  • Canon has undoubtedly produced an impressive upgrade here. Image quality is fantastic with sharp detail and very good colour reproduction, yet there’s no way it can match the high-ISO performance of Nikon’s D3 or D700 cameras. There’s no single camera ...
