Used with the Canon EF 24-105mm L lens image quality is superb. The resolution is such that small areas of the image can be cropped and enlarged without loss of detail. Low noise performance is exemplary at the highest ISO settings. And the movie mode ...

While the high definition movies are excellent we do have reservations about the utility of this feature. To work properly the camera needs to be tripod mounted and the focus needs to be constantly tweaked manually. The user manual says “auto focusi...
No dedicated dial for aperture
LCD screen doesn’t flip out
Awkward focusing in Live View mode
No manual overrides in movie mode
Automatic white balance isn't great in artificial light
Abstract: Video Review: If youre looking for a serious SLR upgrade, youll want to check out the new Canon 5D Mark II digital SLR with its 21.1 megapixel CMOS sensor, HD video capture, a 3" LCD, and 3.9 frames per second continuous shooting. It might be the mot...
Abstract: You heard the news that Nikon was the first to introduce a digital SLR that shoots high-definition video, the 12.3 megapixel D90 (720p/24p), and read our First Look report. Canon quickly followed suit with their digital SLR that shoots HD: the 21.1 meg...
Abstract: So for you it may be an interesting decision. The option to save a few hundred bucks and get a smidge less noise at high ISO is surely attractive. Either way, you've got an absolutely amazing camera. I would imagine most people..

Like its predecessor, Canon's EOS 5D Mark II is a great camera that offers exceptional image quality and a great interface. We'd like to see a few additional features (better auto bracketing and an intervalometer, for starters) but these are quibbles....
Great image quality; expanded ISO range; HD video; great interface.
New RAW modes have a slight color shift; cheaper cameras available with larger feature set.

Abstract: The new Canon EOS 5D MkII is something of a hybrid between the Canon EOS 50D and the Canon EOS 1Ds MkIII, in fact Canon in one of their publications say that the EOS 5D MkII "...shares 80% of its features with the EOS 5D, and 10% with the flagship C...
Excellent resolution, very close to Sony Alpha 900 (and essentially the same as EOS-1Ds Mark III), Very good High ISO performance, almost as good as Nikon D700 / D3, Wide range of ISO settings from 50 to 25600 (with ISO Expansion enabled) and useful auto...
AI Servo (continuous AF) not as good as EOS-1 series or Nikon D700, Default noise reduction quite heavy at anything over ISO 400 (can be turned down though), JPEG output a bit soft when viewed at 100%, Still pretty average automatic white balance in artif...
How do you follow a classic? Thats the question Canon faced when it got to work producing a successor to the EOS 5D. The original 5D was the first affordable and lightweight (in relative terms) full frame camera, and set a standard for low noise at...
Abstract: The Canon EOS 5D Mark II was quite possibly Canons most highly anticipated Digital SLR ever, and the scramble to get in a preorder line insured that very few 5D IIs would be found in stock any time near their first availability date in early December ...
The full-frame, 21.1-megapixel Canon 5D Mark II is in many ways an exceptional camera, and truly groundbreaking when it comes to video recording, where it not only holds sway as the first SLR to offer full 1080p movies, but delivers exceptionally high...
