The editors liked
Smooth and intuitive interface
Super-fast buffering and downloading (on Telstra BigPond cable and ADSL2+)
Wide range of content on BigPond TV and BigPond Movies on Demand
Low initial price
This is a neat easy to use PVR that overcomes a lot of the complexities of a more expensive PVR. It has attached storage and access to over 1500 movies which alone is a single reason to purchase.
Good quality free-to-air TV picture
Excellent online video on-demand material
Unmetered access to much content for BigPond users
BigPond Movies is great. Great user interface. Generous 1TB of storage. The price is right for its features
The editors didn't like
Requires a BigPond Internet connection to access BigPond online content
New release movie content is slightly expensive
On the downside I would like to see an additional tuner so that a user can record two programs and watch a third. One option for Telstra is to offer a $499 TBox that has a larger drive and three tuners along with Wi Fi.
Purchasable content a bit pricey
Sub-DVD quality picture on VOD content
Single TV tuner only
Can only record one source at a time. Cannot record Foxtel. Cannot view media from external sources

The Telstra T-Box PVR is a viable alternative to the TiVo and other set-top box offerings, and its movies on demand and linear streaming channels provide a compelling value-add option for anyone looking for reasons to switch ISPs to Telstra BigPond. It is...
