The editors liked

  • This is a sleek fast phone
  • That is rich in applications and functionality. It will put the iPod under pressure while leaving brands like Nokia scratching their proverbial backside.
  • Excellent design with stunning AMOLED screen. Huge range of preinstalled software. First-class web browser with Flash. HTC Sense is superb

The editors didn't like

  • The application icons should be larger and one of the three buttons on the base of the phone enabled to activate the screen.
  • Poor 5-megapixel camera. Battery needs to be managed by the user. Needs at least 8GB of internal storage

  • In terms of usability, it feels as though the HTC Desire phone knows what you want at all times. There are a lot of similarities with the G1 and this is certainly down to the Android OS. Team this with HTC’s excellent build quality and you have a worl...

  • Maybe I should be slapped silly for comparing every smartphone to the current iPhone 3Gs, but then again maybe it is because it has set the bar in so many ways and has, after all, been the inspiration for the app craziness and fondness for touchscreens...

  • Responsive; excellent screen; user-friendly user interface
  • On-screen keys frustrating; relatively high SIM-free price, Rating:
  • HTC has made a name for itself as the leading vendor of Android phones, and the Desire is possibly the best yet. The large 3.7in screen, the responsiveness of the device and HTC's Sense user interface all add up into a potential rival for Apple's iPho...

  • Bright highresolution 3.7in screen, works brilliantly for email, web surfing, good onscreen keyboard, maps, Android Martketplace, fivemegapixel digital camera,
  • Large, less useful if you don't use social networking sites, Marketplace lacks a large volume of quality apps.
  • The HTC Desire is among the best of modern smartphones...

  • The Desire is a great-looking, fast and powerful phone that's generally easy to use. There are still a few bugs to iron out though, and we didn't notice it being especially faster than the cheaper HTC Legend.WiredGorgeous screen. Fast.TiredSoftware bug...

  • All things considered, the HTC Desire will be a big competitor for the iPhone this year, it’s solid, well built handset that feels good in your hand, has a great set of specifications to rival the iPhone and even does some things that the iPhone doesn’...
