It seems the “Mini” devices might always be a generation behind their big brother flagships. Before we get disappointed by the comparison though, it's worth remembering that the screen resolution compromise usually brought about by the smaller screens usu...

Manufacturers have made their efforts to respond to interest in smaller flagships with releases of “mini” variants of their own, often charging fairly exorbitant coin for mediocre specs. Sony's offering goes beyond the approach of attaching a flagship nam...

Possibly better than its big brother, Sony's Z1 Compact manages to get everything we liked about the Z1 into an even smaller package, making it suitable for anyone who wants something new, fast, and powerful, but also loves the size of the iPhone and does...
Flagship specs in small body, Great camera, Waterproof
Ordinary looking
Sony has achieved something special with the Xperia Z1 Compact. The company has created an excellent phone — first. Then its added wonderful features to it, like the high resolution camera, exquisite display and its I'm-not-scared-of-water attitude. By no...

Flagship specs, Waterproof, Decent battery life
Poor bundled services, Awful low light photography, Glass back prone to smudges
The Sony Xperia Z1 Compact is the perfect device for those who think that some of the leading smartphones are just too big, but still want the best specs on the market. Those top-end innards crammed into a smaller device means high-end power isn't missin...

Ideal for onehanded use, Powerful hardware, Good battery life, Dustand waterresistant
Average camera, Steep pricing
There's no doubt that big-screen devices which offer a more immersive experience of viewing multimedia, playing games, browsing the web or reading documents are enjoying massive uptake currently. However, this comes at the cost of comfortable handling as...

Superb 20megapixel camera is easily bestinclass. Compact handset with highend, powerful hardware. Premium design that's also water resistant. Great battery life.
Display quality could be better. A few software oddities.
Inside the Xperia Z1 Compact you'll find an 8.74 Wh (2,300 mAh, 3.8 V) non-removable battery, which is fairly large for this class of handsets. Compared to the Xperia Z1, the Z1 Compact has a 26% smaller display paired with a 23% smaller battery, and when...
