The editors liked
Blazing fast focus speeds
Insane burst rate
Incamera 4K video
For testing the camera was used for fast snapping of informal portraits and action shots at an indoor and outdoor event. It was teamed with the full frame 2870mm FE lens and the results were excellent. Focus is fast and exposure and colour were spot on. T
The Sony A6300 delivers class-leading photo and video quality
Plus good performance and features for shooting action
The editors didn't like
Dated ergonomics
Compared with other cameras in this price range the a6300 is short on instantly accessible controls
Myriad small annoyances mar the experience and it has the trademark poor battery life of Sony's A series. Plus it really could use in-body image stabilization

Excellent high resolution photos, Amazingly fast Auto Focus at 0.05 seconds, 425 phase detection points, 4K video with no pixel binning, Tough, rugged build, Great price
Difficult to manually set a focus point, clumsy main control button/dial layout
Our bottom line for the Sony a6300 4K mirrorless interchangeable lens camera is that this is one superb, well priced shooter for almost any consumer or even prosumer needs. If you want high performance and especially high low light performance on a budge...
I imagine it can be a challenge to attempt to update the world's most popular mirrorless camera in a way that not only capitalises on its strengths and fixes its weaknesses but also doesn't break the bank in the process. While the a6000 is still a very ca...
Great video features, including 4K capture, Continuous focusing is comparable to a DSLR, Sturdy mount and body, plus weathersealing, USB power supply
Fine detail in JPEG images could be better, A front control dial would be useful, No touchscreen, Awkward to select AF point, especially when using an EVF

Myriad small annoyances mar the experience and it has the trademark poor battery life of Sony's A series. Plus it really could use in-body image stabilization
A respectable update to its very popular A6000 mirrorless interchangeable-camera model, the Sony A6300 remains great but also retains some of the drawbacks of its predecessor...

Stellar photo quality, Razor-sharp 4K movies, Extremely quick autofocus, Fast, continuous shooting, with good motion tracking, Excellent high-res OLED viewfinder, Reassuringly solid alloy body, External mic jack
Confusing menu system, So-so, nontouch-screen LCD, Steep price, compared to the similar a6000 model, Smaller lens selection than for DSLR competitors from Canon and Nikon
Though you might not be a fan of labeling yourself, it might be a good exercise when you need to decide between the new Sony a6300 and the older and cheaper a6000. If you consider yourself a really "serious" photographer who wants the absolute, best quali...
With the Alpha 7 and RX series' receiving such critical acclaim over the past couple of years, Sony's APS-C CSCs have been starting to seem somewhat neglected. Thankfully, the Sony A6300 has brought the old NEX series back with a bang. It may appear to b...

Quick autofocus, 11,1fps burst shooting, 4K video capture, Crisp EVF, Tilting rear display, Strong high ISO performance, Built-in flash, Wi-Fi with NFC, Weather-sealed body
Omits touch-screen support, Lacks in-body stabilization, Dense menu system, Some apps must be purchased, Doesn't include external charger
The Sony Alpha 6300 adds weather-sealing and 4K video to the popular midrange Alpha 6000. It's the premium mirrorless camera that Sony photographers have been waiting for...
