The editors liked

  • Premium design
  • Powerful processor
  • Thin and light.
  • Great design
  • Powerful and well-specced
  • All-day battery life
  • The Samsung Galaxy Alpha's metal frame makes it the most luxurious feeling Galaxy phone to date. Its more compact size makes it comfortable to use
  • It has loads of power and its camera is great
  • Best looking Samsung
  • 12MP camera
  • High resolution screen

The editors didn't like

  • No expandable memory
  • Disappointing screen
  • No expandable storage
  • TouchWiz is still a problem
  • Screen is only 720p
  • It has a disappointingly low-resolution screen
  • Which is a particular shame given the extremely high price of the phone. It loses the waterproofing of the S5 and there's no microSD card slot for expanding the storage either
  • TouchWiz is slow
  • Would benefit from a water resistant coating

  • The Galaxy Alpha was a huge step forwards for Samsung, a trailblazer for its new metal chassis designs, in much the same way that the Galaxy Note Edge was a test run for curved screens. But while the Note was quickly seen as an oddity, the Galaxy Alpha is...

  • Excellent Design, Gorgeous Display, Plenty of power, Lots of storage, Decent camera, Impressive battery (for its size)
  • The only downside to the Galaxy Alpha is that it comes at a time when the Galaxy Note 4 is soon to be widely available...
  • To sum up in one sentence: the Samsung Galaxy Alpha, despite my preconceptions, really does live up its name. The device looks better, feels better and in many respects appears to perform better than its larger, flagship brethren, the Galaxy S5. Whethe...

  • This really is the Samsung iPhone, and the South Korean firm has done a fantastic job of it. By putting build quality before specification it has produced a truly desirable, premium phone with a mid-range price. And still the Samsung Galaxy Alpha is still...

  • Abstract:  The Xperia Z3 Compact continues Sony's Xperia Z1 Compact philosophy: to create a miniature handset packed with the same high-end specs as the flagship device. Compared to the Xperia Z3, the Z3 Compact comes with a pretty similar looking spec sheet. Both h...
