  • That Pokemon has managed to maintain its fun and compelling nature for all these years is worth noting. Pokemon Black and White offer a rich Pokemon experience with gameplay that is, after all, well-loved; and with plenty to offer Pokefans both old and...

  • Pokemon Black and White 2 feel more like an expansion pack than a new game in the series. If Nintendo was a big player in the DLC market, this game could have easily been an add-on for the original Black and White games. While it's cool to see the Unova...

  • Abstract:  Pokemon Black/White for the Nintendo DS are games that nary need an introduction. We were first introduced to Pikachu and pals in 1998, and the series has been a staple on Nintendo handhelds ever since. Pokemon Black/White bring numerous changes to the...

  • Abstract:  It has been four years since the release of Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl, and during the interim, Pokémon fans have longed for the introduction of the fifth generation of Pocket Monsters. Numerous remakes have been released in the span of those fo...

  • Abstract:  In all aspects, you can sense that this is be the last generation. The creativity is gone and these Pokémon are so distant from their original 150 counterparts, that it seems it would be hard for Gamefreak to create a new generation with it still being Pokémon.

  • Abstract:  Neal Ronaghan: Pokémon Black and White, the start of the fifth generation of Pokémon titles, doesn't reinvent the wheel. After all, it doesn't have to because Pokémon has such a rock-solid foundation. What the new titles add is polish and freshness, th...

  • Abstract:  What is there to say about a new Pokémon game? The series moves at such a measured pace, with only incremental changes and improvements in each new entry, that at times it's hard to tell one game from the next. Pokémon Black and White continue in thi...

  • Brandnew Pokemon roster; easy adhoc methods for trading and battles; excellent soundtrack; streamlined game mechanics; singleplayer campaign boasts refreshing content at every turn for both new and old fans; as usual, the unique battle system and explorationbased gameplay continues to be a country mile (or two) ahead of other RPGs.
  • Not very challenging; alltoofamiliar narrative largely sticks to the same old series formula; pixelated graphics need some refinement; no Pokewalker compatibility; a number of new Pokemon designs are just outright hideous; triple and rotational battles are woefully underused.

  • Abstract:  There're a hundred different ways to look at Pokémon Black/White. A large segment of the gaming population will undoubtedly view it as just a retread; a much smaller segment will view it strictly in terms of the new mechanics, and plenty more will be c...
