The editors liked
The image quality from all Olympus Pen cameras is excellent and the Mini is no exception. The Super Control panels works so well that it makes the lack of control buttons less irksome. Auto focus is fast and accurate.
Clear image quality
Good high ISO performance
WYSIWYG LCD screen
Small and cute design. Fast autofocus. Easy-to-use menu system. Attractive price compared to other cameras in its class
The editors didn't like
The menu system has been criticised for is complexity. No one will come across the activation of the Super Control Panel by accident. The full user manual is essential
And pointandshooters won't read it
Which is a pity
Flash not built in
Video capture is "wobbly"
No hand grip. Screen difficult to see in sunlight. Average video quality

The Olympus E-PM1 may be the smallest member of the Micro Four Thirds PEN family, but it delivers the same solid build quality and good-looking images as its larger siblings—and it’s lightning fast. ...
Fast autofocus system and 5fps burst shooting mode are enough to keep up with some of the world's best tennis players. Crisp 1080i HD movies with stereo sound available at the touch of a button. 2x magnification factor from Micro Four Thirds sensor turns
Attach a zoom lens and the Mini becomes decidedly less mini. Very slow startup time might cause you to miss shots of famous celebrities. Images above ISO 1600 are noisy. Menu navigation involves too many button pushes and knob turns. No builtin flash
Abstract: One of my favorite events of the year is the one where Olympus invites me to New York to document the U.S. Open tennis tournament with one of their brand new Micro Four Thirds PEN cameras. This year, I happened to be snapping away in the press dugouts wit...

This new sensor delivers high-quality images and performance. Image noise is low and metering rarely overexposes. There are some issues with color- and white-balance accuracy though. The Olympus PEN E-PM1 is much faster than its predecessor, particularly ...

Available in black, white, silver, dark brown or purple, the Olympus E-PM1 shares a degree of retro charm with its Pen predecessors. And, while it eschews some of their built-to-last chunkiness, there will be many who prefer the more streamlined profi

Good value when bought with standard zoom, competent and consistent performance, quick and responsive for the most part
No integral flash, rear operational controls and on-screen symbols are tiny, no dedicated delete button nor handgrip
Olympus’ smallest digital Pen interchangeable lens camera yet continues a run of impressive products. While it’s not a match for cameras further up the range, the price does at least reflect this...

Abstract: The E-PM1 is the smallest interchangeable lens camera from Olympus, and its video performance was surprisingly good for a camera that comes in such a small body. The PM1 recorded sharp Full HD video in our testing, although it struggled at times in our lo...
