We tested the E-M1 with the new 12-40mm constant aperture f2.8 Pro lens
Which in itself is a masterpiece of mechanics and optics. Focus is lightning fast and images are excellent for sharpness
Resolution and colour fidelity. The camera feels like a unit costing several thousand dollars more.
We tested the EM1 with the new 12–40mm constant aperture f2.8 Pro lens
Resolution and colour fidelity. The camera feels like a unit
Substantial hand grip. In-camera processing options like HDR and colour control are very effective. Focus peaking. Very sharp images straight out of camera. Incredibly rugged design

The editors didn't like
We tried to find fault
But there is nothing we dislike about the EM1
Fidgety autofocus in low light. Locking mode dial takes some getting used to. Only 30fps in video mode
Shutter button too squishy for our liking
Some noticeable LCD and EVF flickering under fluro lights
LCD not variangle
Some features hard to find
High price
While we like the amount of buttons
This number may confuse people
Screen only pops out at various angles
As per normal with other Olympus cameras
No built-in flash
Colour filtration modes only officially apply to JPEG

If you really need need the much larger files, slightly better exposure range or low-light performance of a full-frame camera, or if you can't live without 1024p or 1060p video, then the E-M1 may not be for you. By the same token, if you just want to take...
Abstract: Olympus ' first OM-D model wastop of the compact system camera league for nearly two years. Can the younger, more serious Olympus OM-D E-M1 live up to the old Guvnor's legacy, or will it be David Moyes to the E-M5's Fergie? The E-M1's weatherproof body is ...
For an insanely large amount for a camera that feels a bit too digital to use, and yet reminds you of a retro feel – the OM-D E-M1 is caught between two worlds. It does redeem itself in the way it handles and takes great images and videos, but the design ...
Incredibly fast and accurate AF, Weather Sealed, Very useful EVF
High ISO performance can be dodgy, A little pricey
Olympus, for some awkward reason, chose an incredibly difficult naming scheme for its flagship mirrorless lineup, but moving past that, you realize there is something incredibly special about this camera. This isn't going to be your usual review, simply b...

Having so much control at your fingertips, with no compromises, is a breath of fresh air when many mirrorless cameras take a more paired down approach. Having something small, light, but still suitable for speed and rigorous shooting is fantastic. It is g
Even though the micro four thirds can rival APS-C in terms of image quality, that sensor size is still a roadblock for shooters who crave super shallow depth of field. When you are spending over a grand on a camera, it is hard not to want the biggest sens
The OM-D E-M1 is a serious investment, but if you want the experience of a professional camera without the bulk and weight a DSLR, then you should absolutely pick it up. Nothing else offers the same level of ergonomics, customizability, and durability th...

Pro-like manual controls, Rock-steady stabilisation, The fastest autofocus around
Continuous AF can be beaten
Should E-M5 owners upgrade to an E-M1? Probably not, especially if they've got the optional battery grip. But everyone else should sell every camera they own, plus a body part and any heirlooms knocking about in the loft, and buy the new Olympus' flagship....
