The editors liked

  • The Netgear NeoTV is a good media streamer that provides a generous and diverse collection of preprogrammed content channels. It works great with an Ethernet or Wi-Fi connection for resolutions up to 1080p. The optional smartphone app is a nice touch

The editors didn't like

  • NeoTV has very limited functionality not going much beyond just streaming. There's no expansion port and users can only connect the device to a TV via an HDMI cable

  • While it's a capable streamer the lack of any expandable memory and its limited connectivity really limit its universal appeal. It's also priced too high compared to the most recent Roku offerings....

  • 1080p at a 720p price. Free remotecontrol app for iOS and Android makes searching and navigating slightly easier
  • No wireless streaming from external devices. No USB ports from wired streaming, either. Slow, frustrating menus. Limited library

  • The greatest asset to this player is Vudu; it would be all the excuse I'd need to overlook some of its flaws. The icing on the cake is there is an extensive array of other fun, informative, and social content to work your way through on the player. —KW C...

  • Inexpensive. Supports 1080p video. Lots of streaming services, including Vudu.
  • Clunky menu system. Remote isn't very responsive
  • Netgear's NTV200 is a $50 Netflix-and-other-video-services box for your HDTV, but its interface isn't as polished as those you'll find on Apple TV or Roku boxes....

  • Strong collection of mediastreaming services, including Vudu; builtin wireless adapter; smartphone app.
  • No USB ports; no analog outputs; can't access media stored on your own network.
