The editors liked
The DJI Spark delivers a tiny
Lightweight design
Excellent mechanically stabilized camera
USB charging and advanced features like gesture controls and obstacle detection. It travels well and is great for aerial photos and video
The editors didn't like
The Gesture mode currently only takes photos. Flight time can be as short as 10 to 14 minutes. The app can be frustrating to use
Especially on smaller screens. And you should expect to buy batteries and possibly the optional controller

Abstract: DJI's Spark is the company's first attempt at a true drone for everyone. DJI has made no secret about the fact it thinks non-RC enthusiasts want a lightweight, compact quadcopter that's easy to control. That's exactly what the Spark is. But after spendin...

Abstract: Our Spark is returning to DJI a bit worse for wear. As a rule, we try to send products back to companies in the same state they arrived, but that's a hazard of real-world testing a product with four spinning blades: sometimes things end up covered in dirt...
Excellent design, Filled with intelligence, Affordable, Good camera, QuickShots simplifies complex flight plans
Flight time too short, Software hides key features, Panorama and shallow focus need work, Base price should include propeller guards, Quickshots needs refinement to keep the drone from flying too far away

The DJI Spark is a $500 palm-size gesture-controlled selfie drone for the masses, but it's hampered by short flying time and an app that could be easier to use...
The Spark Remote Controller is well designed and makes it much easier to fly the drone, as well as offering better range, more reliable live video and also lets you use the Spark's Sport mode. It's still quite expensive at £100, but well worth it if you wa...
The DJI Spark is a curio – half selfie drone and half tech marvel. It's extremely capable and handles like a dream, even more so if you invest in the remote control. The footage you can achieve is extremely impressive. So too are the 12MP stills. The hand...
Almost impossibly small, lots of smart sensor technology
Limited battery life stops it from being serious film drone, gestures aren't reliable yet
There are plenty of small drones out there, but almost all of them are essentially toys and couldn't be considered as portable, high-end flying cameras. The Spark, on the other hand, could be. Not to Hollywood movie levels, but it's still highly capable o...
The DJI Spark may not offer the best photo or video quality, but as a package it's one of the best you can buy under £700. It's so small it will fit in practically any bag, it's easy to use and it has features - such as object tracking and obsctable avoid...

But before you spend any money, consider your mission. Are you a beginner, looking to get a first drone that works dependably well for most purposes? The Spark's a great choice. Are you a long-time Phantom owner, looking for something more portable? The S...
