The editors liked

  • Great design
  • Solid specs
  • Dell has fixed this laptop's only remaining serious flaw
  • Designing a super-slim 2mm webcam to fit into the thin screen bezel. Optional colors look great
  • As does the 4K touchscreen. Excellent keyboard
  • And decent battery life for a 4K laptop

The editors didn't like

  • 8th Gen CPU
  • Weaker than expected battery life
  • The entry level configuration
  • While well-priced
  • Cuts too many corners. I don't love the woven texture on the wrist rest

  • Abstract:  While Dell is offering the option of Ubuntu 18.04 LTS as the Linux option with their new XPS 9380 laptop, what happens if the Bionic Beaver isn't of interest to you? As part of our testing of the Dell XPS 9380 with Core i7 8565U laptop, I've just finishe...

  • attractive design with slim bezels, small footprint, bright 4K UHD panel, fast fingerprint scanner, Thunderbolt & DisplayPort via USB-C, slightly faster than predecessor, decent runtime, quiet fans
  • soldered RAM, incomplete sRGB gamut, glossy display (touch), poor webcam quality

  • Camera finally back on top and no more turkey waddle neck, Intel's Whiskey Lake U offers a decent but marginal performance bump
  • Doesn't support Windows Hello facial login, 1080P version lacks touch screen support option
  • A rejiggered camera position and Intel's new Whiskey Lake U processor makes the best thin-and-light laptop even better...

  • Gorgeous design with a new Frost White color option, Class-leading performance, Bright and vibrant 4K touch display (as configured), Premium brushed aluminum design, Super-thin InfinityEdge display bezels, Runs cool and quiet, Webcam is back where it belo
  • So-so battery life (may improve with a firmware update), No USB-A or HDMI connectivity, Loaded configs are pricey
  • As configured, the Dell XPS 13 (9380) we received commands a premium price point, and in return it delivers best-in-class performance. It led the way in several of our benchmarks, including PCMark 10 and Geekbench 4, and did so while running cool and quie...

  • Slim, lightweight design, Strong performance, Gorgeous 4K display, InfinityEdge bezels with properly placed webcam
  • Below-average battery life
  • The Dell XPS 13 serves up a new color, a powerful Intel Whiskey Lake processor, a 4K display (and ditches the ridiculous "nosecam") - all in a slim, lightweight chassis...

  • Super-bright 16:10 screen, Excellent keyboard and touchpad, Strong performance
  • No legacy connectors, Heavier than you'd expect, Mediocre pixel density on Full HD+ models
  • Inevitably, every convertible design has its trade-offs but, for my money, the XPS 13 2-in-1 is the most attractive take I've seen on the idea. Dell has created a superb, uncompromising laptop, which just happens to also offer the convenient option of fli...

  • There's extra security with a fingerprint sensor that works quickly, The battery lasts about six hours and recharges in just under two hours, You can wirelessly project the display onto Miracast enabled TVs, It comes with a USB 3 to USB C adaptor so you'l
  • It doesn't have a touchscreen which is a little disappointing for this price, The screen can't be adjusted to any angle which makes it more difficult to see in bright light
  • If you are willing to splash out on a reliable laptop then the Dell XPS 13 9380 will be well worth it. Perfect for working on the go, its slim and light design will be comfortable on your lap and it copes well with office software and photo editing. The 1...

  • Solid performance, lovely 4K touchscreen, webcam is now in the right place
  • Trackpad can feel cramped, the Rose Gold colour is polarising, it can get expensive, zero design innovation, Rating:
  • The 2019 XPS 13 is the best to date. Dell has basically perfected the ultraportable design, with the laptop offering an excellent display, decent performance, and more flexibility in a smaller package than the Surface Laptop 2 and other thin and light lap...

  • Sensiblypositioned webcam, Slight better display and battery life
  • No real performance improvements, Facial recognition removed
  • With no real improvements over its predecessor, Dell's latest XPS 13 feels like more of a mid-generation revision than a genuine update. Not a disappointment, certainly, but you might as well go with last year's model...
