The editors liked

  • Great design
  • Solid specs
  • Dell has fixed this laptop's only remaining serious flaw
  • Designing a super-slim 2mm webcam to fit into the thin screen bezel. Optional colors look great
  • As does the 4K touchscreen. Excellent keyboard
  • And decent battery life for a 4K laptop

The editors didn't like

  • 8th Gen CPU
  • Weaker than expected battery life
  • The entry level configuration
  • While well-priced
  • Cuts too many corners. I don't love the woven texture on the wrist rest

  • The Dell XPS 13 is a great all-around clamshell laptop, with a beautiful design and a small footprint. My biggest complaints are that there's no IR camera - particularly that Dell gave us facial recognition and then took it away - and there's no USB Type-...

  • Abstract:  Announced at CES this year, Dell's new XPS 13 finally puts the webcam where it belongs, above the display. Moreover, the company shrunk down the camera sensor, so it didn't have to compromise on the immersive experience that's provided by narrow bezels.T...

  • A webcam above the screen, Dolby Vision screens standard, Speedy performance, Refined design
  • Still no full-sized SD card slot, Relies on integrated graphics when competitors are exploring dedicated
  • Dell's XPS 13 is still one of the best Windows ultraportables around. Its design is better than ever, it has fantastically bright Dolby Vision HDR screens and Dell has finally returned the webcam to the proper position. There aren't many downsides -- unle...

  • Dell has fixed this laptop's only remaining serious flaw, designing a super-slim 2mm webcam to fit into the thin screen bezel. Optional colors look great, as does the 4K touchscreen. Excellent keyboard, and decent battery life for a 4K laptop

  • It's nearly impossible to find anything to dislike about this 13-inch slim powerhouse, at least in the pricey high-end configuration tested here...

  • The Asus ZenBook Flip might not be quite as elegant and powerful as its primary competition, but it costs a heck of a lot less and can still do the vast majority of the same workloads.Lenovo's IdeaPad Miix 520 is an outstanding Windows tablet in terms of...

  • cycling Turbo Boost clock rates allow for faster CPU performance on average, crisp 4K UHD touchscreen, high contrast ratio, full sRGB coverage, fast 512 GB Samsung NVMe SSD, no pulse-width modulation, compact and rigid design, very narrow bezels
  • Core i7-8565U is less than 10 percent faster than the Core i5-8265U SKU, USB Type-C and Thunderbolt 3 only; no full-size ports, light-moderate uneven backlight bleeding, slightly louder fan noise than Core i5 SKU, slight electronic noise on our test unit
  • Opting for the Core i7 configuration will bring an average performance boost of only 10 percent over the Core i5 configuration for $250 more. This wouldn't have been so bad if Dell had also doubled the RAM and/or storage between the two price points, but...

  • Abstract:  At the end of January, Dell announced the Dell XPS 13 9380 Developer Edition laptop as an upgraded version of the XPS 9370 with now having Intel Whiskey Lake CPUs and other minor improvements. Over the past two weeks I've been testing out the Dell XPS 938...
