You can get faster or bigger for the money
There's no support for RAID
And you can't blend the two included drives into one single partition

The performance is a little disappointing. At the time of the review
Innovative Design, SSD Performance, HDD Capacity, "Just Works" - No drivers or caching software necessary
Price Premium, SSD Not Terribly Fast, Must "Unhide" HDD at first
The WD Black 2 SSD + HDD Dual Drive - Currently $299 on AmazonWD deserves some kudos for bringing a product like the Black 2 to market. The drive is obviously not for everyone. Desktop users would save a few bucks and be better served by separate solid st...

There's no support for RAID, and you can't blend the two included drives into one single partition, compared with high-end SSDs, the performance is a little disappointing. At the time of the review, the drive only works with Windows
Fast, user-friendly, and affordable, the WD Black 2 Dual Drive is an easy recommendation as a replacement drive for any standard laptop or desktop computer.
Final Thoughts ]If it hasn’t been made clear enough by now the WD Black² is designed for a specific purpose and that purpose is to be an upgrade solution for laptops with a single drive bay. For almost all other applications where a standard SSD and ...

The only 2.5" drive that crams separate flash and disk drives into one package, providing more speed than an HDD and more storage than an SSD for a tolerable premium.
It's also much slower than alternatives such as Samsung's SSD 840 Evo 500GB, which is available for about the same price and offers enough space for most notebooks.
The WD Black2 is designed specifically as an upgrade for laptops with a single drive bay and it's somewhat pointless in any situation where separate SSDs and HDDs can be used in tandem. People who fit the usage case ultimately have a choice between one st...
Now that we have taken a look at the performance of the Black 2 as well as what makes it such a unique and innovative product we need to step back and look at the big picture. First, what are the benefits to the drive? Well as someone who loves building ...
Novel and impressive engineering, Hardware compatible with any Windows system that supports 9.5mm drives, Better in many ways than hybrid hard drives
SSD performance is weak compared current mainstream comparables, When both drives are taxed, performance of the SSD drops, Compatible with Windows only
The WD Black2 is a extremely innovative combo drive that presents both 1TB of HDD storage and 120GB of SSD storage to the host system. The 9.5mm 2.5" form factor slots in standard notebook drive bays and connects via SATA interface. A third controller...
The idea of allowing people to have both an SSD and an HDD in the same form factor and size as a standard laptop hard drive is a brilliant one. I have no doubt that a lot of people are going to want to get one of these drives simply because they enable...
Solid SSD performance, Good HDD performance, The fact that the above two bullets are possible in a single 2.5" 9.5mm package,
Logical addressing of the SSD and HDD may be an issue for some power users
Western Digital has certainly broken the mold here. No longer are you stuck with either an SSD or HDD. You're not stuck with a cached HDD, either. Now you can have a full blown SSD with 1TB of HDD storage, all in one package that fits into a single la...

Abstract: With prices continually falling, SSD drives are no longer a luxury for the enthusiast. There is no doubt that SSD drives have significant advantages over their spinning brethren, but pricing aside…capacity continues to be the SSD's Achilles' heel. The cur...
SSD HDD in a single bay, Easy installation (just pop it in), Fast SSD read speeds
More expensive than some SSD options, Write speeds on the SSD could be a smidge higher
If you're looking for an easy way to add both speed and storage to your laptop or Ultrabook, and you only have one drive bay, I can't think of a really good reason not to recommend the WD Black 2 Dual Drive. The SSD and HDD performances are satisfactory, ...
