It is expected that most users would configure the Synology DS415+ in RAID-5 for optimal balance of redundancy and capacity. Hence, we performed all our expansion / rebuild testing as well as power consumption evaluation with the unit configured in RAID-5...
Great overall performance, Minimal effect of encryption on performance, Upgraded RAM and CPU
Weaker 8k sequential iSCSI performance than QNAP TS-451
With upgraded RAM and processor (as well as a slew of other new features), the DS415+ proves to be a good step up from Synology's previous model mainline 4-bay SOHO NAS.Discuss This ReviewSynology HubSynology DS415+ at AmazonGA_googleFillSlot("sr_article_...
Synology hasn't really gone out on a limb with the DiskStation DS415+, for the most part it's a refined version of the more than 2 year old DS412+. That isn't necessarily a bad thing and constant refinement is what Synology does best.By taking their tried...
Storage performance is the focus of the DS415and it performs well at this task. The setup process is very easy for first time NAS appliance users and there are enough extras for users to be surprised by all of the functions available.

Starting with the build quality and design of the DS415+ we have a NAS which impresses. It may have a chassis which is plastic but the finish on that plastic, both matt and gloss, looks and feels good. It is also strongly constructed thanks to the metal f...
