  • After testing 16 different mechanical keyboards we can safely say that when it comes to the typing experience most of the models are a lot alike. This is mostly because of the used technique; everything with the Cherry MX switches has the same key sizes...

  • Quiet, low-profile keys, Consistent, comfortable typing, Good software, RGB backlighting
  • No dedicated media buttons, Awkward USB ports, Only plastic throughout
  • SteelSeries Apex M800: Performance The M800 might not have familiar CherryMX switches, but the QS1 switch has the same actuation force as CherryMX Red hardware – 45cN. That's low for a mechanical keyboard and low when compared to other CherryMX switches...

  • After spending some time with the SteelSeries Apex M800 it's going to take something special to get my mind off of it. It's going to cost you a bit more than the usual, but it's worth if for those super fast QS1 switches and the highly customisable beaut...

  • QS1 switches are excellent. Cartainly comparable to Cherry MX, RGB backlighting is some of the best available, Solid construction, high built quality, Great remapping and back end customisation, Great space bar
  • Expensive, Not the best keyboard backlighting for the money, No wrist rest.
  • The Steelseries Apex M800 incorporates brand new mechanical switches which are comparable and possibly even better than Cherry MX switches. We don't want to delve too much into comparisons, as this is very much a personal choice decision, but Steelseries'...

  • If you can get past its biggish bones and that absurd spacebar, the Apex M800 is a solid option for those who want ultra-responsive keyboard switches—especially when it's on sale. SteelSeries' asking price of $200 is more than a bit ridiculous, eclipsing...
