Feels far more simplistic and less rich than previous Civilization titles. Changes to major mechanics will require significant readjustment time for veterans.

Still addictive as hell; new tweaks enhance gameplay; stable as the place you store your horses; new cultural policies add a fantastic RPG element.
New city-states feature is a double-edged sword; games lack a sense of character; some omissions from multiplayer hurt that experience.
