The editors liked

  • Gorgeous 1600x900 PLS screen. Very slim and light. Good keyboard and touch pad
  • Chiselled good looks
  • Incredibly functional form
  • World's lightest notebook

The editors didn't like

  • Only one USB 3.0 port. Adapters not included for micro video ports. Backlit keyboard needs to be brighter. Battery life could be improved. Touch-pad driver takes ages to load on first boot
  • Meaning some functions aren't available for at least 30 seconds
  • More expensive than Ultrabooks

  • Fantastic highres display, Excellent performance, Good backlit keyboard, 7.5 hours of battery life
  • Limited amount of ports, Loud touchpad clicks, Pricey
  • The Samsung Series 9 is the most well-rounded Ultrabook we've reviewed to date. It gets almost everything right – it even has decent speakers. The 1600×900 PLS display has fantastic picture quality with unlimited viewing angles and an anti-glare coating f...

  • Abstract:  Intel might have written the Ultrabook spec, but Samsung is making it sing. For the latest case in point, look no further than the Samsung Series 9 Ultrabook , a thin, lightweight powerhouse that's about as stylish and feature-rich as an ultraportable can...

  • Abstract:  Samsung has been experiencing nothing but success in the portable market for a while now. Truth be told, this applies to tablets and mobile phones much more than portable computers, but things are starting to balance out, it seems. We’ve been seeing mo...

  • Abstract:  Samsung Series 9: Now This Is an Ultrabook [REVIEW]Too many so-called Ultrabooks render the label nearly meaningless. The thrust of the idea is a category of extremely thin and light laptops that also perform well. However, Intel owns the trademark, an...

  • A thin, stylish design, long battery life, excellent screen, and a new second-generation Intel Core i5 CPU make the Samsung Series 9 NP900X3A one of the best ultrathin Windows laptops we've ever seen
  • The Series 9's way-too-high sticker price makes the MacBook Air look downright affordable by comparison, the flexy case design doesn't feel as good as the MacBook Air's, either
  • If you're looking for a beautifully built, extremely thin, light, and portable ultrabook, the Samsung Series 9 rises above the competition. It may lack a few top-end features, but it's a perfect ultraportable for those who can afford it.

  • Last year we tested the entry-level model of the Series 9, but were disappointed that Samsung used a very slow SSD. Samsung made up for that decision but finally using one of its own SSDs, and combined with the faster Core i7 processor it results in a m...

  • Screen, Unibody chassis, Lightweight, Solid State Drive
  • Poor trackpad, Expensive
  • If you're after an ultraportable laptop then this should surely be on your shortlist. However, whether or not it wins you over is whether you can work past the sometimes irritating trackpad, the smudge attracting aluminum chassis and the rather large pric...

  • Good design, As thin & lightweight as it gets, Quiet, Matte PLS display, Great performance
  • Limited connectivity, will require VGA & Ethernet adapters, Battery life, Excessive heating during processorintensive tasks
  • Samsung can be proud of its new Series 9. The company has optimised the space available without sacrificing sturdiness or performance. We were pleased to see that the screen also got an upgrade and provides high-quality images. ...
