The editors liked

  • Well-constructed
  • Attractive design
  • Clever spinning bezel interface. GPS
  • Speakerphone
  • Optional stand-alone LTE phone service and work-anywhere Samsung Pay. Spotify app streams music on the go. Works with most Android phones
  • And even iPhones to a degre
  • Comfortable to wear
  • Feels like a watch
  • Great battery life for a device with a full colour screen and interactivity
  • Supports both major mobile platforms
  • Android and iOS
  • Control ring makes the watch just that much more intuitive and usable
  • Still the number one (non-Apple) smartwatch that also works on iPhone
  • Looks like a watch
  • Stylish
  • Excellent bezel interface and operating system
  • Water resistant
  • Lots of apps available for it

The editors didn't like

  • It's big. Tizen-based software has less app support than Apple Watch or Android Wear. iOS connection works
  • But it's very buggy. Few killer apps take advantage of stand-alone LTE services
  • Screen doesn't stay on
  • Screen doesn't always flick on when you move your wrist
  • Watch often stops Bluetooth headphones from intercepting the phone call
  • Needs more apps
  • A tad large
  • Gear app could be better
  • Will seem expensive to some

  • Abstract:  Special intrigue Samsung in a presentation at the IFA was not. That watch Gear S3, it was clear both in the invitation and the various leaks. But will look like this watch, no one knows, even a few hours of “leak” design showed more imaginary than real.Fr...

  • The Samsung Gear S3 seems like an excellent smartwatch that pushes the boundaries of industrial design and usability. The presence of a wheel and two buttons make the user experience fast, efficient, and pragmatic. We already considered the Gear S2 as one...

  • Fantastic five-day battery life, Great fitness-tracking capabilities, Classy design with a neat interface
  • Undeniably chunky, Unsuitable for swimmers, Limited app support
  • The OS isn't as mature as Android Wear, but the Gear S3 offers sumptuous design and great health-tracking capabilities...

  • Abstract:  If you're sick and tired of reaching into your pocket for your smartphone every time someone sends you a messange on WhatsApp, you might find the convenience of a smartwatch – which delivers notifications straight to your wrist over a Bluetooth connection...

  • The question is, should you care? In some respects, I'd argue you shouldn't. The watch's core apps and general all-round capabilities are so good that it's worth the asking price anyway, without the addition of third-party apps. The fitness side of things...

  • Offline Spotify support, Great design
  • Limited upgrade, Some strange straps
  • Samsung's Gear Sport does seem like a limited upgrade, but new features including support for Spotify offline and swim tracking means this could be a great new watch for very particular sport lovers...

  • Abstract:  Fitness sells smartwatches. So say most players in wearables, Samsung included. The new Samsung Gear Sport pushes further into fitness, adding some features that were overdue. It's not the same set of upgrades that last year's Gear S3 smartwatch received...

  • Nice design, Good sports tracking features, Intuitive user interface and charger design, Rotating bezel is a major plus, Waterproof to 50m
  • Lack of third-party apps still an issue, Not great for iPhone users, Sleep tracking is hit and miss, Apps can take too long to load
  • That's the Samsung Gear Sport in a nutshell. It's one good-looking smartwatch that makes all the right design choices to please those who want to focus on sport, but do so in style (well, depending on which of the 23 initial strap choices you select). If t...

  • I like the Gear Sport a lot, especially since it takes all those useful features from the Gear S3 and puts them into a smaller and more manageable body. The addition of dedicated swimming features gives it broader appeal – and, hopefully, the implementati...
