Once the quality settings were reset the camera produced consistently satisfying photographs. RAW images are sensational. We had to do less exposure compensation fiddling with this camera than with any we have tested. We were amazed at the quality of p...
The value-for-money of this camera makes the competition look either greedy or inefficient. There is nothing cut-down or under-done about the Pentax.
Cheap
Midrange DSLR
In-camera optical image stabilisation
Relatively compact
Great mix of auto and manual features

There is a slight lack of refinement. The Sigma autofocus is noisy
As is the mirror/shutter slap. The lens has marked pincushion and barrel distortion. Body and menu graphics are not elegant.
This has the loudest mirror/shutter slap of any camera. This suggests that there might be some hidden parts where costs have been saved at the expense of ultimate refinement. Also

Abstract: Pentax may have been the first Japanese manufacturer to market with a 35mm SLR back in the 1950s, but the maker has been slow to capitalize on the seemingly insatiable demand for digital SLRs. Fortunately, after going it alone to produce the oddly nam...
Results on a par with 10-megapixel competitors; 18-55mm lens included in price; 11-point autofocus system; warm, colour-rich images straight out of the camera; easy to use; reliable all-rounder
Bundled with non-rechargeable AA batteries; image noise at higher settings
In many ways, the operation and performance of the Pentax K100D Super exceeds expectations, given both its price and mere 6-megapixel resolution. For just £370, it represents one of the biggest dSLR bargains out there for anyone looking to make the ...
Abstract: Carrying a 6-megapixel CCD, the K100D Super is the successor to K100D, an entry-level model adding anti-dust features to an already ambitious spec including a body integral anti-shake system, large 2.5in LCD, continuous shooting at just over 2.5fps and...
