The Super Control Panel – one of the glories of this camera – and the Large Superfine JPEG setting are hidden under layers of menus. You will never find these things by accident and even with the ondisc user manual

The menu system is a little too helpful and its tips end up obscuring other menu items
Frame rate for Art filters still isn't smooth
Handgrip is not removable. Only one frame rate for video recording
No builtin viewfinder
Limited remote shooting
Kit lens a little disappointing
Autofocus seems to be a little louder than it should be
Attractive retro styling and solid feel build, large and high resolution tilting rear LCD screen affords lots of compositional choice
Surprisingly pricey on launch, no eye-level viewfinder provided in the ‘basic’ kit, more advanced albeit older OM-D E-M5 from Olympus now offers better value
Like others here on the E-P5 there are a plethora of digital effects filters to choose from for both photos and motion images, which provide added pep in dull conditions. Otherwise if conditions aren't perfect, some shots straight from the camera appeared...
Image I could get wide for this scene by using the 12mm f/2 lens. Its effective focal length is 24mm because of the four thirds systems 2x crop factor. Detail is lovely and crispCompared to its competition, the Olympus Pen E-P5 is certainly stylish, if o...
Autofocus is very fast!, 1/8000 s shutter speed for use with fast lenses in bright sunlight, Good picture quality up to 3200 ISO, Good range of lenses available, Creative filters are a nice feature, Mechanical stabilisation for photo and video modes
Touchscreen doesn't have multipoint support, WiFi functions are quite limited, No mic/headphones ports, No manual settings in video mode

Super-fast autofocus, responsive touchscreen, 2x2 dial control works well, premium design is a step above previous Pen models, great image quality matches up to OM-D E-M5, 1/8000th sec maximum mechanical shutter speed
Image stabilisation system emits a hum, continuous autofocus not up to a DSLR standard, pricey, flash release often pressed by accident, Wi-Fi QR code app flawed, 2x2 dial not customisable, focus peaking ought to offer more colours, would like AF/MF switc
Big price equates to big things: the E-P5 is one of the best compact system cameras we've yet tested. But it's not quite perfection. Most of our criticism is small, but Wi-Fi is glitchy on some smart devices and doesn't offer as many options or as...

The Olympus PEN E-P5 is an excellent camera, and in the aggregate it's probably just as capable as the company's reigning flagship—particularly once you factor in the optional VF-4 finder. But why should you pick it over the identically priced OM-D?Both c...
The Olympus PEN E-P5 is an extremely impressive mirrorless camera, but we prefer its sibling, the Olympus OM-D EM-5....

No built-in viewfinder, Limited remote shooting, Kit lens a little disappointing
We have not been disappointed by image quality from this camera, it matches the OM-D E-M5 in terms of detail and vibrance. The E-P5 is also well suited to shooting a wide range subjects...
Eye-catching design, Good level of image quality, Impressive handling, Quick auto-focus
Lack of built-in EVF, More expensive than rival models
There's little to disappoint with the PEN E-P5, both with design and performance of the camera on the whole. It's a little too pricey for us to recommend right now, but it's a good camera all the same....
