The editors didn't like

  • Price
  • If the gaming features are not for you
  • Limited app catalog on Android TV at this stage
  • Bandwidth limitations can significantly affect the experience
  • No free-to-air TV built into the box
  • Asus/Android controllers don't work with most Nvidia games
  • No power off button (I blame YouTube autoplay for this con)
  • Android TV needs to be smarter
  • Still needs more apps and live TV
  • File management is problematic
  • More expensive than competitors
  • Android TV prioritizes Google Play
  • Deep search functionality is uneven
  • Gaming features depend on internet
  • Problematic wireless performance
  • Some features flat out don't work
  • Your mileage may vary
  • 32-bit Android is slower – the Pro runs at 64-bit
  • GeForce Now really depends on NBN ping times and latency
  • Can be slow changing between Apps
  • For more experienced users capable of getting the most out of it
  • Controller sensitivity an issue

  • Powerful Tegra X1 processor. Supports 4K Netflix. Streaming PC game options expand the available library. Good voice search.
  • Bottom Line, Nvidia's new Shield microconsole is remarkably powerful and supports Netflix 4K, but it's held back by several frustrating Android TV limitations, and its games library still can't compare with a dedicated game console

  • Blazing fast I tried really hard to slow SHIELD down. I installed multiple things at once. I streamed movies. I streamed games. In the end, I just couldn't bring it down. That was a good feeling, Design This thing look freaking awesome, NVIDIABacked NVIDI
  • Android TV This is somewhat of a slippery slope, because the box is Android TV. But we're still not completely there on the whole experience or content thing. I'm still confident it'll get there, though. (And it's definitely in a better place than it was

  • Great Design, Awesome Game Streaming, Myriad of 4K HDR TV Options, Easy Set-up, Great Controller & GamePad Options, Masses of Functionality
  • It's a Little Pricey, You Need A Good Internet Connection To Do It Justice
  • If you have a 4K TV, like gaming, and want tons of options when it comes to content and streaming, you really do need one of these in your life. The gaming aspect is huge too, as you can play games for a very small cost at your leisure. For me, as someone...
