  • Big, gorgeous screens and comfy Sharpiesized stylus prove it: Size matters. Better battery life than DSi.
  • Blownup art looks a bit pixelized. Where are we supposed to store that giant stylus?

  • Abstract:  The Nintendo DSi LL, (DSi XL in the West) is the latest addition to the hugely successful Nintendo platform. "LL" is the Japanese equivalent of "XL", or "extra large". But is bigger really better? Released in Japan in late November, the Nintendo DSi X...

  • More expensive than the regular DSi; display resolution unchanged
  • This grown-up version of the DSi is much easier on the eye and easily justifies the extra cost...

  • Larger screens than its predecessors have; improved viewing angles; fantastic battery life; great new pen-shaped stylus; some games and software pre-installed
  • Rather bulky and heavy; its size makes it less portable; no improvements to the DSi's cameras and internal storage; text-based games may look slightly blurry; old DSiWare games can't be transferred over to the DSi XL
  • The Nintendo DSi XL is larger than the DSi but otherwise pretty much the same. Unless you're desperate for more touchscreen real estate or your vision is impaired, we'd recommend you opt for the cheaper DSi ...

  • Abstract:  The newly expanded DSi is clearly targeted at older users with its sober colours, much larger screen, fatter stylus and wider viewing angle, but even youngsters won't mind the extra bulk in exchange for a bigger and brighter playing surface. Nintendo ...

  • Should you buy the Nintendo DSi XL? Probably not, if you already own an original DS, DS Lite, or DSi. Not unless you have trouble making things out on any of those models' screens. Is Nintendo targeting the XL at a market - an older and/or visually ch...

  • Great build quality. Solid case and stiff hinge. Great matt sandpaper-effect body finish. Battery life is also improved
  • Slow browser – modern smartphones destroy the DSi XL for online use. Low-res text looks rough on the big screens
  • Big-handed, short-sighted gamers of the world rejoice. Everyone else – shrug and stick with your old DS ...

  • Bigger screens, Wi-Fi, cameras, easier to use
  • Size and weight could be an issue
  • The DSi XL will make gaming easier and certainly more interactive with the screen really making this something to shout about. It's more in your face and packs a better punch...
