  • The EVA8000 is clearly an extremely capable media streaming system. Not only is it able to play HD video over a pretty sluggish 802.11g network – an impressive feat in its own right – but it can also be used to stream, listen to and display a large propor...

  • Crashes more than Billy Joel. The complex setup process may prove tricky even for networking pros. Interface graphics and device itself are ugly. No hard drive. Cant auto-update its media library.
  • Setting it up was a nightmare, the device crashed easily, and it isnt attractive, to boot. Still, when its up and running, the product has an impressive feature set. If Apple TV is for the iPod-familiar, hands-off user, then the Netgear is for the pa...

  • Supports multiple video formats, Easily finds media content on your PC, Plays back YouTube videos, Internet radio support, HDMI port
  • Struggles with 1080p files, Basic setup mode is time-consuming, Remote is too small
  • In the not-too-distant future, all of our entertainment media will be digital. And eventually, well be able to store it all on the Internet. Until then, products such as the Netgear Digital Entertainer HD EVA8000 streaming set-top box do an adequate j...

  • Netgears EVA8000 really should be a fantastic media player, but it currently falls flat thanks to two issues. The major clanger is its lack of high bit-rate content support. Theres a small chance that this could be rectified in future firmware updat...
