  • Abstract:  Despite its dominance, Nero has traditionally offered a slightly old-fashioned interface. With version 8, however, its look has been significantly cleaned up and its features streamlined. You still get 14 bundled apps and eight utilities, but the produ...

  • Abstract:  If you need a one-stop shop for Media Authoring, it's widely accepted there are only two suites worth considering - Ahead's Nero, and Roxio's Easy Media Creator. Both suites offer all the basics required to Rip, copy, burn or author your own media from a ...

  • Lots of applications, all accessible Improved start panel Includes home entertainment tools
  • Applications often slow to load on older computers Nero 7 users might not find enough here to upgrade
  • Although the range of tools here isnt quite as broad as that in Roxio Easy Media Creator 10, its still better at disc creation and management.

  • Loads of features; improved Startsmart interface; easy to use
  • Feels like more of an incremental update than a major software revision
  • It’s not massively different to Nero 7, but the improvements and additions certainly make it a slightly better product

  • Abstract:  I first came across Nero - like most people - when a tied copy was provided with a CD-ROM drive, certainly no DVDs about then. Of course you get to know how to get it to do what you want, you then get a new PC and you need to learn a new product becau...

  • Speedy, Good range of tools, Ability to choose what to install from software
  • Navigation can be a bit difficult, More attention needed to some of the gadgets in the software
  • When the disc authoring companies continue to focus on new ways to burn discs, you realise that the good old optical drive isn’t dead after all. Like Roxio, Nero is no longer just about the humble CD or DVD – it’s now all about computer...

  • New interface. Plenty of features
  • Heavy install
  • The core functions are still the same but Nero has simply made them easier to use
