The editors liked

  • Low price
  • Nice build
  • Decent screen and power
  • The Moto E runs (basically) stock Android
  • So it'll be updated pretty quickly
  • Battery life that lasts all day
  • And then some more
  • A good size for the average hand
  • The new Motorola Moto E is proof that a cheap phone can be good
  • Too
  • You're getting reasonable performance
  • A sharp display and LTE connectivity for $150
  • Unlocked
  • Solid battery life
  • With close to two days
  • Comfortable design
  • Two SIMs
  • If that sort of thing works for you
  • Pretty stock version of Android
  • And one of the most up-to-date iterations at that
  • Unlocked budget phone
  • MicroSD storage will be useful for ex
  • Dual-SIM
  • Inexpensive smartphone
  • Light Android 4.4 overlay
  • Expandable memory
  • DualSIM
  • Great camera for the price
  • Good 4.3inch screen with responsive touch panel

The editors didn't like

  • No flash or front camera
  • Nonremovable battery
  • Terrible internal storage
  • There's no 4G here
  • But frankly
  • What did you expect?
  • Qualcomm's Snapdragon 200 is slow compared to what's in most other phones
  • And you notice it
  • The camera is pretty poor
  • Hardware
  • Like its predecessor
  • Camera quality disappoints. The processor also occasionally struggles to keep up with more hardware-intensive tasks
  • Like gaming
  • The rear camera is not good. not by a long shot
  • No flash on the rear camera
  • No front-facing camera
  • 3G speeds aren't great
  • Performance can be a bit hit and miss
  • No front camera
  • Poor rear camera
  • Poor earpiece speaker impacts call quality
  • No camera flash
  • Screen hard to read on an angle
  • Not 4G

  • Excellent value for money. Comfortable design houses a decent display. Performance from the Snapdragon 200 SoC is better than expected. Stock Android leaves the bloat at home.
  • Fixedfocus camera is often unusable. Limited internal storage.
  • Over the years testing and reviewing smartphones, I haven’t used a device that retailed for under $130 at launch that was actually decent. Until I tried out the Moto E, that is. The Moto E isn’t a device suited to power users. It isn’t a device for peopl...

  • Motorola has rested its hat on delivering the most phone possible for the least money necessary. The company cut corners on the Moto X and focused on software, then cut even more corners with the Moto G and focused on price. With the Moto E, it's raced to...

  • ZOMG CHEAP! Water resistant and a damn near smashproof body. This phone is harder to kill than Steven Seagal. Great, solid handfeel. Variety of color options
  • Selfie hater: Lousy back side camera, and no front side camera at all. 4GB of storage is not enough to even store all my apps

  • Competing on price is a tough business. The race to the bottom end has seen firms like Huawei and ZTE flourish, though perhaps not in the US where Motorola at least has brand advantage. The $129 Moto E is ambitious in a similar way to the Moto G, underc...

  • Abstract:  Motorola's latest handset, the Moto E, is in the hands of Marco Hanna. Can the cheapest handset in Motorola's lineup compare to more expensive smartphones like the Moto G, Moto X and Nexus 5?...

  • The Moto E almost seems like buying a phone from 2011 that is still in an unopened box. The DROID Bionic might just be the best comparison, but in terms of pure specs, it probably was a better phone since it sported a front-facing camera, had more interna...

  • Value, Build quality, Recent Android version, Battery life, Sufficient performance, Expandable storage
  • Camera module, Screen resolution
  • More cannot be expected for 119 Euros. Bullseye for Lenovo (again). It seems to be so easy to sell numerous smartphones Just provide a highly capable device with decent build quality and a low price. Then again, this may not be so easy to do, as many smart...

  • Abstract:  "At-a-glance review of Motorola's budget smartphone, the Moto E"The Moto G is a device that offers superb value for money, and has been quite a success for Motorola. With the KitKat-toting dual-SIM Moto E, the brand is now attempting to create similar rip...

  • Runs an almost untouched version of Android 4.4.2, The vivid screen is a pleasant surprise, Rounded design makes for comfy gripping, Incredibly affordable
  • Only 4GB of internal storage, Rear camera is mediocre at best, No flash or front-facing camera
  • There's no two ways about it -- the Moto E is exciting, if not in the way most mobile buffs would like. You really shouldn't underestimate the sort of world-shaking power that can come from making something that's both very good and very cheap. So what if...

  • One of the lowest prices for any smartphone, period, Sturdy construction, Good sharpness for a screen of its size, Front facing speaker, Expandable Storage
  • Low resolution screen won't please screen nuts, Low tier performance package doesn't back the 1 GB of RAM, microSD card required in order to install a lot of apps, Simply not made to be anything more than a communication device, Camera lacks flash, and is
  • 7.0 The Moto E is priced at just $129, unlocked, making it one of the cheapest smartphones you can get your hands on. The closest competitor is another Motorola device itself, the Moto G, which is priced $50 higher, but gets you a better display, a faster...
