The editors liked

  • Slim
  • Light design
  • Vibrant display
  • Fantastic battery life
  • Clean take on Android
  • The Moto Z2 Play has a beautiful screen and all-day battery life. There's expandable storage
  • Lots of software tricks and even a headphone jack

The editors didn't like

  • Huge camera bump
  • Moto Mods aren't necessarily useful
  • Screen could be brighter
  • Average low light camera performance
  • Its best software feature doesn't always work. The phone feels wide and uncomfortable without a magnetic back cover
  • And not much better with covers that don't fit well. Last year's Z Play had much longer battery life

  • Moto Mods, Overall performance, Slimmer
  • We can't say it's a great upgrade from the first Z Play, but it's still worth it since it has a slimmer body and is compatible with all current Moto Mods. If it's your first Moto Z device, then we highly recommend checking it out.(previously published in...

  • So, it looks like the Moto Z2 Play passes with flying colours. Compact design, good camera, good battery life, good performance, neat motion sensing controls, but some might not like the huge camera bump, and the panorama is still underwhelming. But there...

  • Long battery life, sleek design, fast and accurate fingerprint sensor, supports Moto Mods
  • Camera lacks optical image stabilisation, no Gallery app
  • What's attractive about the Moto Z2 Play is that Motorola has kept everything minimal, from the design to the operating system, while offering enough features. Also, it goes for RM1,999 which is not too bad for a mid-range smartphone.Overall, the Moto Z2 P...

  • Fuss-free performance, Vibrant and crisp 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display, Super slim, Very lightweight
  • Protruding rear camera module, Mediocre image quality, Expensive Moto Mods, Not as powerful as its immediate competitors
  • Honestly, we're not exactly sure what to make of the Z2 Play. Don't get us wrong, it's actually a pretty decent smartphone. It performs admirably, it's super sleek, its battery life is amazing, and you can easily upgrade its capabilities with the help of...

  • Premium build and quality screen - even at 1080p, Silky performance and great battery life, Nifty modular accessories
  • Camera lacks colour punch, Moto Mods quickly get expensive, Phone still looks weird without a Mod in place
  • When it showed up at the tail end of 2016, we loved the Moto Z Play and its weird yet wonderful take on the modular mobile. It had fantastic battery life, too, but couldn't quite edge out the cheaper OnePlus 3 as our go-to phone below RM2500.Now that the...

  • Abstract:  Over at MWC Shanghai 2017, the Lenovo booth featured the hotly-discussed Moto Z 2 Play. This smartphone was based off the well-received Moto Z Play, which did fairly well in our benchmarks. Our first impressions with the newer devices helped us discern t...

  • The title is our current verdict – great phone but expensive. First, lets go with the positives. The Moto Z2 Play is a great phone – improved camera, solid performance, vanilla Android, nice hardware and surprisingly good battery life. However, the price...
