The editors liked
The iRobot Roomba 880 replaces its predecessor's bristly brushes with rubbery "extractors" as part of the new AeroForce cleaning system. This brushless technology removes debris better than previous iterations and keeps maintenance to a minimum
The editors didn't like
The bin is supposedly larger than in previous Roomba models
But it still fills up too quickly when you're dealing with dust and shedding pets. That
And it costs $699

Abstract: If you were to look back through the development of the Roomba over the past five years or so, you'd be surprised at how little the robot vacuum cleaner has changed. The Roomba 500 series had about a five-year run where it saw a few minor revisions but ul...

Powerful vacuum for its size. Can be controlled and scheduled to fit your needs. Brushless design helps prevent tangles.
Very expensive. Complicated home layouts require planning and accessories, or watching the vacuum and controlling it manually
The iRobot Roomba 880 is a powerful upgrade over the Roomba 790, but even though it sucks (dirt up) more it's basically the same robotic vacuum....
Decent cleaning, Useful accessories, Dirt sensor technology, Fits under most furniture, Effective edge brush
Bump steering rather clunky, Relatively low suction, Missed small area of test room, Rather noisy
iRobot Roomba 880 – How does it cope with corners and obstacles? Back in the day, the original Roomba navigated in a completely random pattern and simply bounced off obstacles in a different direction. At first you would think the Roomba 880 is doing exac...
The iRobot Roomba 880 is a great looking and great performing robot vacuum cleaner. It does exactly what it sets out to do, offering good suction, great cleaning power and a decent battery life to keep your floors spic and span. It doesn't miss muc...
Excellent at navigating around obstacles, Very good at cleaning all kinds of surfaces, Full range of accessories (including Virtual Walls), Easy to clean, doesn't require much user maintenance, Generally easy to use, Goodquality build, feels sturdy and ro
Treats thicker rugs as obstacles, so moves around them rather than cleaning them, Remote control doesn't have any icons, which can be confusing
The only real drawback we found with the Roomba 880 is that it tends to treat thicker rugs as obstacles, cleaning around them rather than scooting up on top of them. Apart from that, it does a great job of cleaning hard floors, as well as thin and thick c...
Easy Setup, Superior cleaning performance, Large dustbin
No smartphone/network connectivity, Long charge time, Expensive
While there's no denying that this vacuum does a great job at cleaning floors, we're just not convinced that the extra features it boasts make it worth the exorbitant pricetag. We were very impressed by how easy the Roomba 880 was to set up and start us...
It's pretty much ready to suck right out of the box. Program the date and time, press clean, and Roomba starts doing its thing. This is luxury vacuum that any idiot can operate. Any terminally lazy idiot, at that. Because it uses a brushless system, you p
It's a bit loud. Which isn't so much of a complaint as it is a nitpicky thing. I would love to see the next-gen Roomba thATT#39;s a little quieter, Should You Buy It?, Yes. The Roomba is like a maid, but it's a better investment. Don't like to clean? Buy this
Yes. The Roomba is like a maid, but its a better investment. Dont like to clean? Buy this Roomba. Are you busy? Buy this Roomba. Have pets? Buy this Roomba. The only downside is the price. This Roomba is $700, however, it is the top-of-the-line, newest...
Abstract: iRobot is one of the pioneers of robotic vacuum cleaners and their latest Roomba 880 is their most advanced one yet, featuring their new AeroForce cleaning system and the latest iteration of their iAdapt Responsive Navigation technology. The new AeroForc...
Excellent navigation, Tangleresistant extractors and sweeping brush, Good suction performance, Two Virtual Wall Lighthouse devices
Pricey, Inelegant dustbin release mechanism, Only one sweeping brush, A tad noisy
Compared to its rivals, as the LG Hom-Bot Square, the Roomba 880 is a little down on cleaning modes as it offers only "Clean" and "Spot" mode. As you might expect, "Spot" tells the Roomba 880 to focus on cleaning a single spot; whereas "Clean" works like...

The biggest question of course is whether or not you actually need to have a Roomba 880 in your home. If you live in a studio or one-bedroom apartment, then it's a great tool to get your floor cleaned up when you're away at work. For larger homes you ma...
