The editors liked

  • Translation feature works
  • Decent battery life
  • Cute little soft case
  • Made for folks who still like earbuds (how many are left?)
  • Battery performance isn't bad
  • The Google Pixel Buds are lightweight wireless earphones that offer a relatively comfortable fit and decent sound in non-noisy environments. They wrap up nicely to fit in a very compact charging case that delivers multiple extra charges on the go. Their t

The editors didn't like

  • Translation doesn't always work
  • Poor ergonomics
  • Quickly uncomfortable
  • Volume differences are crazy
  • Low to high
  • With little in between
  • Controls are super fussy
  • Translation feature seems fiddly at best
  • Storage of the earbuds is specific to one method of winding them up
  • Expensive
  • Their open design lets in a lot of ambient sound. The "real-time" translation feature is only available to Pixel phone owners
  • But isn't a big leap beyond the existing Translate app. Bluetooth pairing can be more cumbersome than it should be

  • Lightweight design, Easy voice-controlled access to Google Assistant and Translate, Sound avoids harshness or boomy bass,
  • Fiddly connectivity, not a great fit, Music lacks both excitement and detail,
  • The wireless headphone market is full to bursting, and includes an increasing number of completely wire-free options. The Pixel Buds stand out because they're Google-powered and can draw on some neat features from the tech behemoth's arsenal, including the...

  • Translation feature works, Decent battery life
  • Translation doesn't always work, Poor ergonomics
  • Compared to the rock-solid hardware they share their branding with, Google's Pixel Buds are unequivocally a bit disappointing. They're not comfortable to wear, they don't sound particularly great and the even the headline act of real-time translation isn'...

  • The latest generation of Google Pixel Buds are an all around good product that's more concerned about doing its own thing rather than competing 1:1 with its competition — for better or worse...

  • Comfortable to wear for long periods of time, Cord connecting the earbuds is actually useful, Holds a moderately long charge for wireless earbuds
  • Expensive, There are better wireless earbuds, Might not fit everyone's ears

  • Unless you're really in need of basic translation services - and willing to pick up a Pixel 2 - there are better wireless headphones for a more reasonable price. That said, it's worth realizing that the Pixel Buds are more than just a pair of headphones. T...

  • Smart design, Good battery life
  • Awkward fit, Bassy sound, Google Assistant is pernickety
  • From Maps to Drive, Google has a history of making products that aren't that great to start off with and end up being awesome. The trouble with its Pixel Buds is that you're being asked to pay for that awkward first step, and that's not a great deal.Havin...
