The editors liked

  • The Charge 3 is affordable
  • Lasts a solid week on a charge and can be worn while swimming. It has a larger touchscreen and added features include app notifications
  • Weather
  • Stopwatch and timers. Works with iOS and Android
  • Slick form-factor
  • NFC payments
  • Nice simple screen
  • Touchscreen and passive buttons are a great combination
  • Excellent week-long battery life
  • Water resistant
  • Supports Fitbit Pay platform

The editors didn't like

  • Limited watch faces
  • And you can't get new ones or apps like the Fitbit Versa can. Single haptic pressure-sensitive side button isn't customizable to start workouts. No music storage or remote playback. No GPS (but syncs with a phone's GPS to record runs)
  • Battery life feels like it ought to be better
  • Lacks some features found in Versa
  • No music control
  • No GPS

  • 7-day battery life, Touchscreen display, SpO2 sensor's sleep analysis potential, Swim-proof
  • No automatic run-pausing at launch, No on-board GPS, Not the most accurate heart rate
  • Fitbit’s most high-profile new devices have been smartwatches, but the company hasn’t forgotten that its best-selling product is the Charge 2. The Charge 3 is an obvious upgrade if you’re a swimmer who wants in-depth sleep analysis in a device that can la...

  • Lightweight and comfortable for 24 hour wear, Long battery life, Detailed sleep and heart rate data, Fitbit ecosystem well supported
  • Limited apps at the time of release
  • One of the strengths of Fitbit products is the community where friends, family, coworkers, and others challenge you to do your best and achieve your goals. There are plenty of challenges available for your friends and family, as well as community feeds to...

  • In many ways one can somewhat forgot how much progress has been made over the years with Fitbit's lower and mid-range activity trackers. Sometimes it can feel like each new release is ‘just another Fitbit', and in some ways, undercurrents of that are true...

  • Bigger screen, Lighter design, Completely waterproof
  • Still no onboard GPS, Monochrome screen, Proprietary charger
  • While its feature set isn't in the same league as say that of its older brother, the Fitbit Versa, the Fitbit Charge 3 offers many of the same features just in a more compact and lightweight design that is by no means earth-shatteringly beautiful but stil...

  • Great touchscreen, Good sleep tracking, Easy-to-wear design, Long battery life
  • A bit pricey, Very similar to the Versa, No GPS, Fitbit Pay only in special edition
  • The Fitbit Charge 3 is an easy-to-use tracker that's a perfect size, comfortable and good at tracking your fitness and sleep. The main problem? It feels very similar to the Versa, which we were very fond of. It does mean that the Charge 3 sits in a funny...
