  • Wireless Bluetooth operation; excellent sound; tight seal effectively blocks out external sound; and the headphones ship with a nice carrying case.
  • Very expensive; funky design may make you feel self-conscious; not suitable for sporting activities.
  • While theyre very expensive and a bit ridiculous looking, the Etymotics Ety8s are the best-sounding Bluetooth headphones weve tested to date.

  • Clear, transparent sound quality. Decent Bluetooth range. Very lightweight. Built-in remote. Solid battery life. Slim iPod adapter.
  • Truly strange styling. Irritating nylon cord. Some audio anomalies on material with strong bass. Expensive, especially with the iPod adapter. Bright sound might not appeal to everyone.
  • The Ety8 continues Etymotics tradition of high-resolution earphones, this time in a wireless but somewhat flawed Bluetooth model....

  • A lightweight pair of Bluetooth 2.0 stereo earphones with the first-ever ability to fit inside your ear canals rather than on top of or around your ears. Includes adapter for connection to iPod; earphones work reliably at distances of 30 feet away. Agg...
  • Very expensive relative to other iPod Bluetooth wireless headsets already in the marketplace. Wireless transceiver boxes look awkward in your ears, and possibly your iPod. Otherwise impressive audio quality is reduced by clicking interference in bass o...
  • Etymotic deserves serious credit for ambition. As the latest company to release iPod-compatible wireless headphones, its new ety8 In-The-Ear Bluetooth Earphones with 8-Mate Adapter for iPod ($299 with 8-Mate, $199 without) offer three noteworthy breakt...

  • Have your ears been good? Then treat them to some of the best Bluetooth sound around. The ety8s have a full-bandwidth chipset that pours sonic honey into your ears for up to eight hours on a single charge. An iPod Bluetooth adapter (included) guarantees C...
  • These bizarre-looking earphones don’t so much whisper "Mug me" as shout it from the rooftops… in Dolby stereo. Not everyone enjoys the sensation of squeezing earphones right inside their ear canals for a fit as snug as Russell Brand’s p...
  • Not so much an audio accessory as a space-age ear-wear. The ety8s don’t look great, and you have to ram them into your ears, but they sound superb. Etymotic Research ety8 is tagged with etymotic research, headphones and mp3. Select a tag (etymotic r...

  • Abstract:  Etymotic is well known for its noise-isolating earphones, but the ety8s are its first foray into the world of wireless sound. The drawback is obvious - pop the ety8s in and youll swiftly become the subject of curious stares and pointing children. E...

  • Decent performance with an iPod, external audio controls
  • Expensive, not particularly stylish, degraded performance with most other Bluetooth devices
  • The ety8s are an intriguing experiment but you’re gonna have to really want to lose the wires to shell out

  • Excellent sound quality
  • The earphones look daft
  • These weird-looking contraptions are Bluetooth earphones, comprising two earpieces and a transmitter that plugs into the bottom of your iPod. You can pair the phones with other Bluetooth devices (but theres no microphone so its pointless hooking it ...
